White-flowering dogwood is a small tree with showy white flowers (technically the white parts are the bracts) in early Spring. It has a very large range, from northern Mexico to eastern North America. The small red fruits ripen in the late summer, and many birds will come to feast on them! It’s also a host for many types of native moths. Each plant has male and female flowers. They prefer well-drained, acidic soils.
