Tompkins County King
Tompkins County King produces a large to very large apple. It has smooth, yellow skin washed with orangish red; sometimes striped. Course, tender, yellowish flesh. The flavor is rich, subacid, and balanced, excellent for dessert pies, sauce, and cider. It was once grown commercially in California as a drying apple. It’s a naturally semi-dwarf tree that’s precocious and vigorous. Tip bearer; ripens in September.
Rootstock: G969: 12-15ft, 15 ft between trees. Semi-dwarf, 12-15ft tall at maturity, resistant to fire blight, crown rot, and woolly apple aphid with good cold hardiness.
