Spicebush, also known as Wild Allspice, is a fast-growing native shrub with aromatic leaves, twigs, and fruit. These can be used to make a tea, or dried and powdered to be used as a spice. It has yellow flower clusters that bloom in the Spring before the leaves come in, and it grows well in moist, somewhat shaded areas. It's also a host plant for the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and Spicebush Swallowtail butterflies.
