Shellbark Hickory | Carya lacinosa

$40.00

Shellbark Hickory trees produce large, sweet, edible nuts. They prefer moist, well-drained soils in full sun. Sadly, one of the lesser known hickories for some strange reason. It has a large range and an almost even larger nut. In fact it has the largest nut of any of the hickories and is second only to the pecan in terms of nut quality. It has tremendous value as a specimen tree in the landscape. It is a slow-growing, long-lived tree that will pass its blessing down to countless generations. Hard to find and even harder to forget.
