Northwest Greening is a popular old winter variety. Large to very large, handsome fruit; up to 5” across. Waxy, smooth, pale green skin with a hint of yellow; turns to yellow when mature. Juicy, mild subacid flavor. Excellent cooking apple, especially for pies. Known for its keeping qualities; keeps well into the winter. Often used as a late season pollinator. Ripens in October. Hardy to -50 degrees F. Originated in Wisconsin. Introduced in 1872

Root Stock: G969: 12-15ft, 15 ft between trees. Semi-dwarf, 12-15ft, resistant to fireblight, crown rot, and woolly apple aphid with good cold hardiness.
