Calville Blanc d'Hiver
Calville Blanc d'Hiver is a medium to large, flat-round, pale green fruit with light red dots on its sunny side. It’s tender, sweet, spicy, flavorful, with yellowish white flesh and a banana-like aroma. Excellent for sauce, cooking and dessert. Contains more vitamin C than an orange (35-40 mg per 100g)! It’s an excellent keeper, turning yellow in storage. Precocious bearer; ripens from late October to December. Grown by Le Lectier for Louis XIII and is still served for dessert in fine Paris restaurants. Dates back to 1598.
Rootstock: G969: 12-15ft, 15 ft between trees. Semi-dwarf, 12-15ft, resistant to fireblight, crown rot, and woolly apple aphid with good cold hardiness.
