Grafting Workshop
Spring Grafting Workshop 2026
When: March 29, 2026 from 10am-12:00pm
Location: Mt. Desert, Village of Somesville (exact address will be sent after registration)
Join us for an introduction to the ancient art of grafting! In this workshop, we’ll cover:
a brief history of grafting and why we do it (it’s not boring, I promise!)
choosing your plant components: the rootstock and scion wood
what materials and tools you’ll need and how to source them
optimal conditions for a successful graft: timing, genetic compatibility, temperature, etc.
how to make proper cuts
after-care for a newly grafted tree
you’ll get some hands-on practice, and go home with 2 young grafted apple trees
Grafting is a skill you can continue to hone for a lifetime, and your fruit tree will provide for generations to come, with the right care. We’re looking forward to sharing our knowledge and experience, and we hope to see you there!
