Ashmead's Kernel Apple Tree

$55.00

The fruit of Ashmeade’s Kernel is crisp, juicy, and has a unique nutty flavor. The apples are medium-sized, greenish-yellow, often with heavy russetting. It ripens in late October and reaches its peak flavor in early November. This high-quality flavor makes it excellent for both fresh eating and for making cider. It stores well for 3-4 months. It’s an old, heirloom, English variety developed in the 1700s and is named after a Gloucester physician, Dr. Ashmead. The tree is precocious and extremely cold hardy.

Root Stock: G969: 12-15ft, 15 ft between trees. Semi-dwarf, 12-15ft, resistant to fireblight, crown rot, and woolly apple aphid with good cold hardiness.
